With a passion for makeup and skin care and the desire to share my thoughts with the world, I was ecstatic when I received a phone call from Clinique last fall informing me that I have been accepted to be one of 20 Clinique Insiders. During this past year, I have enjoyed receiving, testing and reveiwing Clinique’s skin care and makeup products, and I am a bit sad that my time as an Insider is coming to end, but I want all my lovely readers to experience the fun I had as a Clinique Insider.

Clinique is now accepting applications, and all that is required is for your to write a 50 word essay about why you want to be a Clinique Insider and a 1 minute video.  For further information and to enter, visit the Clinique Insiders‘ website.

Beauty| The Best Of M.A.C. Cosmetics

July 19, 2009 · 1 Comment

When M.A.C. became popular, I was a bit hesitant to try their makeup. I like my makeup natural and light, and M.A.C., well, really is stage makeup – perfect if you’re going to walk the red carpet or perform on stage. However, I came over my fear and began trying M.A.C’s makeup and skin care line (having a neighbor who was a makeup artist for M.A.C. didn’t hurt). While I tend to stay away from the foundations which I have found makes my complexion breakout, over the years, I have discovered there are certain M.A.C. products that are a staple in my makeup case.

My M.A.C. Indispensables:

1. M.A.C. Fluidline

I love using M.A.C.’s Fluidline eyeliner in BlackTrap, especially when I’m preparing to go out for a night in the city. Combined with a thickening and lengthening mascara, Fluidline helps to create the illusion of luscious lashes as if I was wearing falsies.

2. M.A.C. Lipstick in Sheer Plum

For a sophisticated look, M.A.C.’s lipstick in Sheer Plum does the trick. To prevent myself from looking too made up, I prefer to keep the rest of my makeup neutral when I wear this lipcolor.

3. M.A.C. Eye Brows in Stud

This brownish-black brow pencil is one of the few brow pencils that work well with my brow color. The only drawback is that I run out of this product very quickly, so I’ll often by two at a time.

4. M.A.C. Paint in Bamboom

M.A.C. Paint is a cream eyeshadow that dries into a powder finish. I have yet to experience unsightly creases with this product, and Bamboom’s neutral color is perfect to wear on a daily basis to work.

5. M.A.C. Prep + Prime Skin

I normally use Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer or Cosmedicine Medi-Matte, but M.A.C.’s Prep + Prime is just as good as these two. It created the perfect canvas for my makeup.

6. M.A.C. Blush in Sheertone Pinch Me

This is my everyday cheek color. Because the color is sheer, it works well with almost any makeup look. If needed, you can build up coverage by simply tapping the color along your cheekbone.

7. M.A.C. Studio Moisture Fix SPF 15

Surprisingly enough, M.A.C.’s skin care line is not that bad. M.A.C.’s Studio Moisture Fix SPF 15 is a great moisturizer during the winter months when my skin is most dry.
